I am Athirah Abdull Sattar @ Ismail. My work has moved across law, healthcare, entrepreneurship, community and leadership, but the common thread is simple: I like figuring things out and making things happen.
I hold an LLB from Multimedia University and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 16 April 2019. Legal practice gave me a disciplined way of looking at problems: understand the facts, ask better questions, listen carefully, build a clear case and keep moving when things get complicated.
Today, I bring that mindset into healthcare entrepreneurship, community work and partnerships. I am especially interested in the space between a problem and a practical solution, where people, systems and ideas have to come together.

From legal practice to healthcare entrepreneurship, the environment changed but the underlying skills stayed useful: research, judgement, communication, coordination and getting things done.
Whether the problem is a legal dispute, a patient's search for dialysis or a new partnership, I tend to work in the same way: understand the situation, map the people involved, identify what is blocking progress and find a workable next step.
Led development of a patient centric healthcare navigation platform for dialysis access. Engaged centres, healthcare stakeholders and patients, designed referral and booking workflows, conducted market research and developed partnerships.
Provided pro bono consultations and representation through Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan Malaysia, including bail, sentencing and remand matters.
Represented nine major insurers in personal injury and running down matters, handling investigations, evidence, negotiation and courtroom work. Secured settlements exceeding almost half a million independently.
Handled personal injury, civil and criminal litigation and conveyancing, including evidence building, negotiation and work with medical experts.
DEGUP is a patient navigation platform helping dialysis patients find treatment options that better fit their lives, while connecting patients, dialysis centres and the wider care ecosystem.
Patients often need treatment three times a week for several hours at a time. The right centre is not simply the nearest centre. It may need to fit around work, family, transport, location, available slots and travel plans.

Long before DEGUP, I was learning how to organise people, take responsibility and turn ideas into programmes. These experiences taught me that leadership is often less about having the answer and more about creating enough clarity for other people to move with you.
